I’m Dao, the artist behind Di Bo Bo Studio. My work celebrates nature’s little wonders, many of which I discover on daily walks with my cat Bo, who inspired the studio’s name. “Đi bộ,” meaning “walk” in Vietnamese, is one of his favorite phrases.

My path to becoming an artist has been winding, shaped by my experiences in public health, higher education, and community work, with long pauses along the way. Although I’ve always loved painting and handmade crafts ever since I first discovered them in middle school, soon after I came to the US, it took nearly 30 years before I took the leap to pursue a career in the creative field.

As soon as I took the leap, I discovered surface design and felt an immediate spark. Since late 2024, I’ve been teaching myself to turn my drawings and paintings into repeatable digital patterns, experimenting with styles, learning new tools, and discovering what feels most true to my artistic voice.

My designs are cozy, bold, nostalgic, playful, explorative, and a bit whimsical, capturing the unexpected magic of the natural world and bringing it into everyday spaces to brighten and inspire. I hope you’ll follow along on my journey and see how my patterns and artwork continue to evolve.
